Ji Hyun and Tom marry at Blaine

On Saturday, August 15, 2009 Wendy and I traveled to Blaine near the Canadian border.  There's a beautiful golf course there headquartered at the Loomis Trail Mansion.  Tom and Ji Hyun (center) both share Korean heritage.  Their families and friends were a very warm and delightful group.  The brief wedding ceremony took place outside under an arbor.  In honoring their parents and keeping with Korean tradition, after the bride's father escorted Ji Hyun down the aisle, the couple and their parents all respectfully bowed in honor of each other.

This was a great place for a wedding; Ji Hyun and Tom set the atmosphere for a wonderful and positive wedding celebration.

I met with Jessica & Kyle to confirm their wedding plans on Hood Canal

I met with Jessica & Kyle at the reception for Jessica's cousin Heath's wedding with Nichole.  This picture was taken on an inlet off of Puget Sound near Kingston.  They were taking notes for their wedding coming up on the south shores of Hood Canal later this month.

Jessica & Kyle are a delightful couple and a terrific enthusiasm for life.  I am looking forward to their wedding on August 29th near Shelton.

Heath & Nichole marry on Hood Canal

We had a great wedding this past Saturday afternoon at Hood Point on the east shore of Hood Canal, south of Seabeck.  The wedding was for my brother-in-law's nephew, Heath, and his partner in this life, Nichole.  The wedding was held at a cabin that I spent my summer's at a few decades ago.  Nichole and Heath have a delightful young daughter, Elise, who was part of the ceremony.

I had a terrific time making new aquaintances and renewing acquaintance with some people that I hadn't seen in years.  Heath and Nichole are a delightful couple with a glowing future.  One interesting point:  Heath and his six groomsmen were dressed in sharp tuxedos -- and wore flip-flops!  After the conclusion of the ceremony, a Cessna on floats picked the couple up and flew them to the reception on an inlet near Kingston, WA.

Bill & Rosalie renew their vows after 55 years!

Meet Bill and Rosalie Wheat.  They were married in 1954 at Saint Brendan Church in Bothell.  The first picture is on the first page of their wedding memory album.
The next picture was taken 55 years later.  Bill and Rosalie were the featured guests when the Creekside Merrill Gardens of Woodinville hosted a recognition for people in the community who have been married more than 50 years.  The Wheats volunteered to participate in a vow-renewal ceremony led by Chaplain Dale.
Congratulations to Bill & Rosalie -- still going strong!

Brenda and Robert to Wed

One of my greatest blessings is to be of service to people in my church family.  Anderson Island Community Church is located in South Puget Sound.  At a recent Sunday service, Robert Gamble announced that he would soon marry Brenda Thompson.  The congregation erupted in enthusiastic applause for this warm and gracious couple.

I'll have more on their story in a future blog, but suffice it to say that we have a very warm place in our heart for Brenda whom we've known for several years.  Robert came into her life in a way that shows the hand of God.  He's a great cook, too!

Their wedding will take place on an upcoming weekend in August.  Stay tuned.

Aubree & Troy Marry in Mount Vernon

Troy and Aubree were married on a sunny Friday afternoon on July 24, 2009 at the Grand Willow Inn in Mount Vernon.  Proprietor Connie Weech saw to it that every detail was perfect in this great location.  The wedding was held outdoors in a delightful gazebo.  An added treat was that Troy's four sons served as groomsmen and a ring-bearer.

The Grand Willow also catered a wonderful dinner for the many guests.  The couple enjoys wonderful and supportive family and friends.  After the wedding, they were on their way to Kuai for a week of honeymoon, after which they would be united on Oahu with Troy's boys for nearly another week.

This picture was taken in the bridal party's ready room immediately after the wedding.  Moments before this photo the couple signed the marriage certificate with their two mothers as witnesses.

Crystal Starr & DJ Perez Wedding

Saturday, July 18th was a wonderful day for an outdoor wedding in Bothell.

Daniel "DJ" Perez and Crystal Starr met ten years ago online.  Crystal has been a Bothell, WA resident all her life while DJ has lived in Garden Grove, CA.  Crystal's parents, David and Mona are well connected in the Bo\thell community.  Photographer Kerri Kirshner of Acclaimed Photography was a student of David's at Shoreline Community College.  Kerri, a member of the Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce, recommended fellow-member Chaplain Dale to Crystal as the officiant for their wedding.

Catering was done by Roberto, the former owner of the Gallo de Oro restaurant in Bothell.  The food was incredible.  The wedding was held in the backyard of a beautiful home in Bothell.  There were two large ponds, two waterfalls and some wonderful people.  Crystal left the day after the wedding with her new husband as they move to Southern California where DJ is in the stucco and drywall business with his father.

Best wishes to Crytal and DJ, an entirely delightful couple!

Katherine & Joe

It was a gorgeous and hot July afternoon when Katherine Sather and Joe Basirico were married on Saturday, July 11, 2009.  The wedding was held at the DeLille Cellars Winery just south of Woodinville.  The winery made for a wonderful place for both the reception and the ceremony on the upper lawn.  Fortunately, there was plenty shade to help keep the wedding party and guests comfortable!  The grounds are delightful.  Catering was provided by Veraci Pizza in Ballard.

Small Wedding for DeAnne and Jerry

Today I had the pleasure of meeting DeAnne and Jerry.  They were engaged on March 10th of this year, a day that marked their two-year anniversary as a couple.  Jerry is a local boy while DeAnne has relatives in California and Nevada.  They've set a date of August 22nd at their home in Edmonds.  Family will be here, including children who will be included in the wedding.  We met at a Starbucks in Edmonds and I am very much looking forward to crafting a warm and personal ceremony for these two delightful people.

The couple met at the place that they both still work.

They are expecting maybe 20 people at a ceremony which, weather permitting, will be held on the deck of their home.

Ji & Tom

Ji & Tom at The Lyons' Den: Their ceremony will take place on August 15th.
I had the great pleasure of meeting two wonderful people this afternoon. Ji & Tom will have their ceremony on Saturday, August 15th in Blaine. We met at The Lyons' Den, my favorite coffee house in Bothell. We talked about their plans for the wedding and how to include some Korean customs during the ceremony. I'm looking forward to working with Ji & Tom for this glad event. I also look forward to learning from them as, together, we craft a meaningful ceremony.
